    Default 3-Position Grinder Stand

    Just completed this project, needed to make some room in the workshop so made up this 3- position bench grinder stand now on with the next project

    I like the principle, but have never been happy that wheels are (potentially) throwing grit and filings at each other. Be interested to know after you have used it a bit whether that is a real problem and needs screening or whether I am buying trouble...

    I save a lot of work shop space with this set up, as for grit and filings well the motors and electrical fittings are sealed so i don't think it will be a problem.

    I was thinking more of throwing grit onto your wet stone for example and contaminating it.

    Good work on the stand TB.

    My tri-grinder stand is now 11 years old.
    It started out with 3 SP grinders and now it has 2 x 3P 1HP GMFs running off one VFD and a 1HP SP Abbott and Ashby.

    Except for buffing wheels (which I install only when in use ) I haven't noticed any sort of grit transfer problem.
    Any big bits that settle on the wheels seem to get flung off when they're turned on.

    Once nice thing I can do with mine is easily move the grinders further out and then rotate it like this.

    Thanks BobL, your stand looks great i like how you can move the grinders further out and then rotate then never seen that set up. Good job

    OH i see what you mean, yes i can make up a cover for that thanks for that tip
