Moving small 100kg metal object interstate
Wondering if you guys can recommend a cost effective (read cheap) way to get something small but heavy (120 x 300 x 500mm approx @100kg)
QLD TO VIC
Uncooperative seller so item to be collected.…..Live a Quiet Life & Work with your Hands

Given the weight there is probably no real cheap way unless someone is driving that way and is happy to take it with them.
I have used e-go online courier booking and they are as cheap as you will find. They will pick up from an address but given the weight they would need loading facilities at the pickup point and the seller would need to be available at pickup time. Cheapest if you get them to deliver to a depot near you (listed on their website) and you pick up from there. You can get an online quote to give you the cost before you book.

I wonder if there is any creative ways?? I once had 3 motorbikes transported to Melb from QLD for $300, It came on a car transport truck in one carsapce. All the bike transport companies want more than that each bike.

From where to where?
Qld is a rather large state...
Can the seller deliver to a depot?
Can the seller put it on a pallet?
Can the seller lift it?
Or is it the seller is saying it is in my shed, you have to do everything, I will not lift a finger... If that is the case big $$$$$ unless it is close to someone willing to do it... If it was near me I would be willing to assist and I know of a number of transport companies that would do the shift from where I am to Melbourne.. But as I say Qld is a big place...Gold, the colour of choice for the discerning person.

My daughter bought a quilting frame and sewing machine in Toowomba Qld and needed to get it to Adelaide SA.
She rang numerous transport companies and all quotes were ridiculous, that is if they were interested.
A friend suggested e-go, she did an online quote for a total weight of 75kg it was $77 depot to depot. The Toowoomba people dropped it off to the e-go depot, she picked it up from the Adelaide depot. If she wanted it delivered to her place in the Adelaide Hills it would have cost $100 total.
The service from e-go was excellent and she would gladly use them again.

And I used e-go many years ago from depot to depot, and the company was uncontactable by phone, well I rang the parent company and they hung up on me.. email only, luckily the destination depot was a third party so I rang them and they swore black and blue it was not in their shed... So I went and saw them in person, walked out the back and there it was...With the con note tag half ripped off...

Seller is useless, I asked for delivery options they came back with try sending via ebay, or pick up. I did specify I wanted to get it to VIC. So they have no idea. I can't rely on the seller for any part. At 100kg doubt they can lift it without lifting equip. However the photo does have several items shown on same table so must have been moved on and off.…..Live a Quiet Life & Work with your Hands

I have used e-go before, but they can be a little expensive. I recently had a Landcruiser gearbox (about 80-100kg) shipped and used TruckIt.net - Australia's Freight Auction Marketplace for Moving Stuff - Free Freight Quotes.
The bloke I ended up with (a really nice bloke too) covers NSW and Vic, but I'm not sure if he does southern Qld ... however I'm happy to pass on his details directly to you, if you would like.Cheers.
Vernon.

Just be careful with Ego. I've had things go missing with no idea where they are. They have also delivered my stuff before and it was ok, one time they damaged our oven, but that's another story.

I guess the problem you have if the seller is useless is that he/she is unable to palletise your 100kg item, which is a necessity if it is going to be handled by any part of the commercial transport system.
Dave Mackennal [email protected] moves cars up and down the Australian east coast with a tilt tray and car trailer. His main line of business is moving the cars that the mainstream carriers don't want, eg projects. He will tie spare engines and gearboxes onto his truck so he may be willing to load your 100kg item as is.

Thanks guys.
I made an offer to the seller but he has since been talking to a guy in the USA and decided it is now rare and collectable and worth lots……maybe true but I want it to use and don't know if there is a collector market for it here. So may go nowhere, see if he gets any more interest from other parties. If not I may still get it at a working price.…..Live a Quiet Life & Work with your Hands
