Plastic powder for hand grips
I'm afraid I'm going to put my old man hat on for this one..... Back when I was a boy..... and doing metal work in high school, we made hand tools like tongs, small hammers etc & we used a powder to make the hand grips. You simply heated the handle end of the metal & dipped it into the powder & it came out with a nice plastic grip, sort of like a thick powder coat but applied with heat. Does anyone know if this stuff is still available, what it's called & where I can get it in Sydney? I tried my old school but they no longer have metal work.... How sad. Thanks. Al

You are looking for polyethylene powder for fluidised bed powder coating.
Used to coat things like clothes drying racks, refrigerator shelves, various wire baskets etc.
Google should find you applicators and/or suppliers of the powder.
One brand name that sticks in my mind is Plasdip, but not sure whether still available here in Oz.

Plastidip is a liquid, not a powder, comes in various colours. Bunnies used to stock it, but like so much stuff they have discontinued it (Grrrr).
Ditto Selley's 'Red Skin' another goop in a can for coating handles.

Thanks all.
I wasn't sure if you could still get this stuff & when I searched for it I obviously used the wrong key words as the results were, lets just say interesting but not what I was looking for.
Cheers.

Yes, the LDPE powder on this page is what I was talking about, but these people appear to be applicators only.
May be worth giving them a call and see who supplies them with the powder.
