The first question to ask is will you be doing this yourself?
If yes the cheapest way to do this is via a VFD and a 3 Phase motor.
In the last two years I have bought around a dozen used 3 phase motors (mainly off gum tree) ranging from 1/5HP to 5HP averaging about $35 each.
3Phase motors are relatively simple devices so can last for decades without problems
New VFDs on ebay suitable for hobby level operations start at $130 delivered.
If you want speed control on the lathe you will need a few other bits and pieces ie maybe $10 from places like altronics.
You may or may not be able to use your existing lathe switches - if you can't then maybe a few more $10's will be needed.
If no and you have to pay an electrician to wire it all up it will cost you about the same again.
Some Sparkies won't like installing used gear purchased by some one else and they might want to only instal new gear bought through them.
If so, be prepared to pay the price of a small body organ.
You should also be prepared to learn how to program (set and clear parameters on) the VFD from the front panel of the VFD.

Avery, Jim's lathe is an AL-60 (SIEG C6)
I'm not sure how the motor is mounted inside that lathe but it looks like an enclosed system so it could be a problem physically replacing the motor with something to suit.
Maybe some pictures of the motor location inside the C6 would be useful
Have you contacted SIEG to see if they have anything?
