I know he goes away to machine and tools shows and he is only a one man band.
CDCO have them for around $9 each.

As for Aussie sellers I don't know, but I think you will be up for around $80 each if you find one.

    G'Day Steve,
At the moment CDCO has the BXA toolpost and 5 holders for $89.00, extra holders are $ 9.00ea. the one he sells is piston type (some people prefer the wedge type, I've been using a piston type for 3 years with no problems ) I think the medium flat rate USPS boxes he uses have gone up to about $60.00 dollars, I would be inclined to fill the box to it's 20 Lb max weight with extra holders, if you email him Frank will tell how many you can fit in the box, delivery is usually about 10 days.
last time I looked H & F had holders at about $38.00 each.
    Regards,
    Martin

I have never seen that variety of tool holders from H&F, are they BXA size?

    Hi Steve,
    The BXA's are $53 from H&F https://www.machineryhouse.com.au/L292A
I would try to hold out for CTC. The quality of the CDCO ones is a bit poor, and CTC tends to be a bit more consistent. You will probably have to change the grub screws (M10) in the CDCO ones they are hopeless.

Good work on getting the lathe into place, she does look like she's in very good nick.

    pench,
Thanks for the heads-up on CTC. How much did he quote you for the individual holders? I sent an email to a supplier in the US last week asking for a shipping quote and he hasn't replied. Business must be good if he can afford to ignore a buyer willing to part with $500+.

    Hi Dave,

I'm not sure how CTC works in this regard.

When I was buying stuff from him pre-paypal days, the direct credit went to a scandanavian (Swedish ?) based bank account and the item was shipped from HongKong.

The dealer had a scandinavian name and I always got the impression that he had people working for him in Asia.

I don't really know how it works these days as it's all pretty seemless.

I've never had any luck getting a response from CTC on any email queries I've sent them, not that I've sent many. Never had a serious delivery or purchase issue.

Chris never got a price mate thats what 2nd email to him was about, a quote, which he suggested, i also tried a ebay seller for combined shipping price again no answer, not good no one wants to take my money except my kids lol, when he lists holders on his web it wont be a problem just add to cart & pay if happy with price, cheers steve.

Try Jeff at Tools4cheap LLC Online Machine Shop Tooling Store

I have purchased from most of the various sellers and find him to be about the best. He will sell up to the 20lb box weight if you want and work with you to get the most postage bang for the buck.

His tool holders are slightly more expensive than CDCO but he answers emails and has a great reputation on the US forums. CDCO? Not so much.

I guess it depends how you define "slightly" more expensive.

On average he is more than double the price of CDCO, ie an AXA tool holder

Tools4cheap LLC Online Machine Shop Tooling Store: 100 series Turn / Face Tool Holder Style 1,Quick Change Tool Posts and Holders

    is $20, at CDCO $8.

So if I buy 15 tool holders from CDCO they would cost me $120+$60 postgae = $180. From Tools4cheap that same lot would cost me $300+$60 = $360.

I agree re: jeff and the helpful attitude he has . But some of his tools are average in quailty . I bought a South bend generic Hercus whatever micrometer carriage stop from him. He says that he has these and other stuff like the steady rests manufactured to his own design, I am guessing he has them made in Asia going by the general finish and sloppy tolerances of the carriage stop I bought from him ..Mike

    Default Cdco

Sometime back (with Ueee) I purchased from CDCO a couple of piloted tap wrenches, thinking they would be handy for use in holding taps accurately in the lathe.
The Tap Wrenches from CDCO were totally useless, they had about a 1/8" runout.
Sent a message accordingly to CDCO but never got a reply.
    That put me off them.
However like Greg Q I have purchased a number of items from Tools 4 Cheap in the USA (Jeff) & always got good quality, with prompt service & replies.
    regards
    Bruce

Well, I am not about to do comparative price shopping for other people am I Fred? His quality is better than CDCO, some of whose holders were garbage.

You could always buy genuine Aloris or Dorian holders on ebay, but there won't be any bargains there either.
