Hi Andre,
Don't get me wrong, I'm not necessarily against Chinese bearings, especially for the price, they are hard to beat. But as long as the supplier is transparent about their product. Otherwise it makes it difficult to compare apples with apples price-wise.
Cheers,
Simon

When I was at SKF bearings a few years back I was told that they would be making bearings in China soon under their quality control and materials etc.
It has come to this because they need to compete with everyone else in the bearing industry, or they will be left behind with high prices and no one will buy through them.
He said they will still be making bearings in all the other locations, but China will now be one of them.
As long as they are marked China and you except that I don't see a problem. I would rather pay the little extra and buy ones made in Germany etc so I know the quality is good.
If they where a brand name like SKF but made in China I would buy them (direct from SKF) as they are not going to let there 50 to 100 odd year business go down the drain to sell a few cheap sub standard bearings.

Ironically, it was a bearing engineer mate for one of the major companies here who recommended Advance and who used to do some rather critical work in generating.
Touch wood, no failures with any of the bearings I've bought there - a lot in harsh and demanding environments.
Not quite sure what is going on in Oz at the moment, assume there's some "mining tax" distributor gouge happening of far greater proportion than other retail goods, several hundred percent when I've bothered to compare.

I generally go to Statewide Bearings, and they usually supply Fag's.
Latest fags I got my hands on were made in Korea...Gold, the colour of choice for the discerning person.

Hi Andre,
All the thrust races I have used have one race on size, and the other race is oversize to clear the spinning shaft. The ODs should be the same though.
I bought 20 or so bearings for Mlle, all either nsk or timken, in a pretty big range of types and sizes. Most were made in Europe or the US, I didn't notice one made in Asia.
Cheers,
