Kev hope all is high n dry I know you were just last week telling me that you are usually high enough out of the waters way but this looks a real mess even though its not showing Katherine township. Not good news as far as supplies etc. Take care and Happy New Year

Hi Woodlee,
I to am glad all is fine. How did Pine Creek fair.? I'm thinking the waters wouldn't get there...
The reason I ask is I'm thinking of moving back home.......

Matt,
Pine Creek is fine ,the flooded area is in the Ferguson River catchment ,which include the Edith and the Cullen rivers .They just completed a new high level bridge over the Cullen and it went under as well.
344 mm of rain in less than 24 hrs. is a lot of water .
These three rivers feed the Daly ,I haven't heard any thing of the communities down in that area as yet.

Thanks for the info Kev..I appreciate it..
16 years ago when I left the NT for Vic I ended a 6 year term of Tour guiding through K'du, L/P and the Rum Jungle areas....
Being down here has been a blast for the most, But I am feeling home sick and its too bloody cold down here...
It's actually quite funny sometimes because I see my neighbours hiding inside under the air-con whilst I'm out mowing the lawn, Welding in full overalls etc etc...
I swear they all think I'm MAD.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Warning Disclaimer

Fraggle here are the pics of the lathe and the radial arm drill.
The lathe is a Macson circa 1948 , after looking at some MacPherson catalogues on line I reckon this date is pretty close give or take three or four years either side.
The drill is Miller brand I suspect it US made , I can check the the manufacturers Plate on the column.
I think the lathe is spoken for.

Thanks for the piccies Woodlee
Both of them are too big for what I'm after but its great to see that they'll probably get a birthday from someone now they're exposed.
I've got a couple of projects on a smaller scale that I'll have to at least get started on before I could tackle something that big.
I've had a go at attaching a photo of an old gear cutting miller ( flat belt drive ) thats waiting for a birthday just to see if I've figured out how to do this.
Thanks for your quick reply, I'm sure I'll be in your ear again seeing as we're just about neighbors.

Old Fraggle, I think I can read PFAUTER, which sounds German. What does the rest of it say?

mmm nice piece of kit , I enjoy the challenge of restoring this old stuff.
The Alba shaper is half dismantled already just got to over come some of the seized bits. All the machiery went under water during the 98 flood.

Hi Bryan
The only identification on it reads
NASCH FABRIC
PFAUTER
CUEMNITTZ
The best I've been able to determine is that it was manufactured in Chemnitz in Germany.
Not sure about dating but I would guess pre WWII
The company is still going as Gleason Pfauter.
I haven't made a concerted effort to find out details on it yet, still building a new extension to the house that is my workshop so the gear hobber is way day the list for a birthday.
Happy New Year to all..
Cheers....The Old Fraggle
