Not really
Hi
Those are brazed carbide tools, the carbide tip has been silver soldered to the shank , they are not suitable for your job because they dont have enough rake and they are not sharp enough .
These are better , you need to buy the correct holder for these inserts, the insert is fixed to the holder by a screw . As the tip wears, you rotate the insert around .

Thanks
Thanks for that, I measure the from the bottom of the toolpost to the centre and only have 2.5mm difference, I may have to remove the toolpost but that will only give me 12.5mm then, half an inch

From your description, its a 4 way tool post you have . If you feel that the 1212mm insert holders are too thick for your tool post , you can then look at smaller carbide insert holders . The carbide tips are available in a few sizes smaller than the 11 examples I linked to. TCMT 09 or 06

Hi Metmachmad, I also have a Qualos lathe and have been looking for any documentation on it. Is there any chance you can send me the pdf? I am also located in the Riverina however the lathe is in storage until I build my workshop.

I just bought a Qualos from an elderly gentleman in the next suburb over... the only thing it's missing is the steadies and the change gears.
I was also wondering if you can buy different slides for it? maybe something with a T-slot?

I think with a qualos you are well into the make it yourself territory, at least you'll have a mill soon.
