The things I buy!
I was sick of not having any Germany optics, so pick up a Leisegang Colposcope today. I'll let you do your own research as to what its used for. I thought it might be useful but now I'm not so sure. Anyway its to late now I have it.
The cast iron base weighs in at 35kgs.
Its fixed focus at about 230mm with stereo convergent optics eye pieces and stereo camera.
The 2nd and 3rd pictures are the same. The 3rd is a small crop at full res. The 4th and 5th are through the scope at the same distance. The power is fixed. I'd been hopping for something a little less powerful but with more depth of field. Still the guy says a new one would set me back $15K so I cant complain to much.
He gave me a gas diffuser, bottle and hose to save him throwing them out lol

Google says that this is very useful for photographing stuff in confined spaces, like up an exhaust pipe or something. It also looks very useful for magnifying faint markings on old plane blades and other tools.

I blame BT. He has to many pretties in his shed.
Turns out the later models are multi power, from 7.5 - 30. But given what I paid for it I'm not complaining.
Maybe I should being it to scraping class and give scores? lol

Hi Stuart,
Hysteroflater?... cervical suction device?... what exactly ARE you up to...(actually, don't answer that, I don't think I want to know )
I seem to remember that GQ had a hobbyist interest in a closely related field...???

I am not going to ask Stuart.......................
Colposcopy is a medical diagnostic procedure to examine an illuminated, magnified view of the cervix and the tissues of the vagina and vulva.[1] Many premalignant lesions and malignant lesions in these areas have discernible characteristics which can be detected through the examination. It is done using a colposcope, which provides an enlarged view of the areas, allowing the colposcopist to visually distinguish normal from abnormal appearing tissue and take directed biopsies for further pathological examination. The main goal of colposcopy is to prevent cervical cancer by detecting precancerous lesions early and treating them. The procedure was developed in 1925 by the German physician Hans Hinselmann, with help from SS Dr. Eduard Wirths.[2][3]
A specialized colposcope equipped with a camera is used in examining and collecting evidence for victims of rape and sexual assault.Warning Disclaimer
