Hi Phil,
Did you manage to convince the shop it was a nail cleaning kit?
Hi Phil,
Car is packed I'm on the way, not sure how cold the beer will be though. I'd been planning a trip tomorrow.

Triangular Scrapers
Andre
I was using mine again today.
Great for taking off a burr. or putting a radius on the end of a drilled or bored hole.
The most important thing is to slow the lathe way down, say 60 to 120 rpm otherwise chatter will develop & you will not get the required result.
regards
Bruce

from memery.
hi every one. Here i go shooting my mouth off again. These triangle scrapers in the pics and posts. i think. just from memory that they are called. 3 square scrapers.
I all ways thought it strange that the 3 and square were used in the name.
I agree with bruce they make a great deburing tool.
As does my pick up. this french made deburer i picked up for $10. Once you get a hang of it its great. lucky because i brought 2.

Here's my latest Ebay score, $31 including postage which cost more than the indicator did. It was missing the screw to limit the travel on the other end to the tip so it was giving a few different readings when the stem was depressed and released. A new screw fixed the minor issue and it's ready to go. Also the "Eagle" has landed at home: a well used Colchester Bantam "Eagle", the headstock was filled with what looked like thick green 2 stroke oil in a misguided attempt to get the headstock to run quieter. It took 8 cans of supercheap degreaser to clean it out and has been filled with fresh hydraulic oil.

Hi Stu, The two levers on top and the top one on the front combine with a two speed motor to give 16 spindle speeds, the little stubby one on the left is the leadscrew forward/reverse. I can't check the leadscrew due to floor sealant fumes in the shed right now but it's fairly beefy, maybe 3/4" diameter, It's about 450mm from chuck to tailstock which isn't all that long. It needs a new cross slide screw most of all at the moment which is a left hand twin start screw, you can buy it online surprisingly.
Edit: measured the Leadscrew it's 1 1/8" diameter
