Stuart,
Could you please let me know who your heater is made by. I have a very similar looking unit that was made in NZ about 20 years ago in by a now defunct company. If the mob who made yours is still around I may be able to get a new solenoid for mine.
They really chuck out some heat. Enjoy!

You poor buggers, the temp has just gotten bearable up here at 23 degrees indoors at night. My Tasmanian wood yacht building friend has arrived back here for the winter 6 years after I helped him move down there by building his boat trailer.
I do like the idea of that sump oil drip burner made from cast iron truck drum brakes that some guy has on the internet, the chimney pipe radiates the heat but extracts the burnt air and water vapour with it. It'd be ideal for the workshop, seems to be clean burning too.

I dont have to be in the shed when its dark, I choose to be, but then I spend a fair bit of time in there when its light as well.
You just wait there Chris..... I'll go back in the cold and check for you
I believe it was purchased from Supagas.

Thanks Stuart,
It's bigger than mine. Mine looks to be equivalent to the J8. I'll see if a solenoid from a J8 will fit my heater.
Cheers

Canberra has the worst climate of any capital city (not that it is one really) in Australia. Colder than Hobart in winter and hotter than Brisbane in summer. I used to hate flying there in winter, half the time you'd find fog and have to go back to Sydney then drive down.

Would love a heater in my shed. However I think it's probably more important to pull my finger out and connect the power first!
Anyway, a very small tool gloat from me.
Ive been looking for another bench grinder so I can run a diamond cup wheel for when I eventually get my hand scraper done. So I saw this on Gumtree. Only about 15 mins drive and in good nick so I grabbed it. The guy had sold his house and moving into a retirement village so he has to sell all his tools in his shed. He's a retired fitter/tuner.
I picked up the grinder and next to it were a couple of cast V blocks. I asked how much for them and he said $10 ea. Well for that price what was I supposed to do but give them a good home?
The bench grinder was $50, not bad but not a steal. Still I'm happy with it!

Power!!!!!!! now that's luxury. When I was a lad I used to have to walk 5 miles for.... well ok maybe not
$50 for the grinder is pretty good. That mop arbor would cost you $25+ locally(from memory) Are you going to fit a crank handle?
My gloat for today is a set of Fuji Tools small hole gauges all the way from sunny California. $23 so I'd say not overly cheap, though $8.50 was postage.

Ha!
At the moment (Oh boy I can't believe I'm admitting to this!) I run two extension leads from the house. If I can't be bothered with the leads I just run the generator (except for welding, it doesn't like that!) The extension lead gets plugged into the powerpoint where the pump for the toilet flush system is powered from. So, if I forget to take out the lead, our toilets won't flush and I get in trouble. It's not too bad, each toilet is obviously good for one flush!
Oh, did I mention that it's important to wind up the lead before I mow the lawn? Still we have RCD's fitted so it's all good!
