    Thanks Grahame,
That TAPS SET in Metal Case - We2u is a really good price, even including GST and postage. They are around $25 a set on ebay... this deal has 7 sets....

I consider the $78 i paid to be of excellent value given they have a lifetime warranty.

I know the brand yato sounds like its a japanese excavator, but it is not.

The brand is actually polish and from their website, the yato brand tools are even exported to china, believe it or not.

The locally availble brand quality is just what i have been looking for. The vice grips ,i noticed, had chrome moly forged jaws. I am stoked to have at last, some quality tools becomming available once again in my neck of the woods.

That's a great price if they are HSSG, not so good if they are Carbon Steel. It is unusual to see a Lifetime Warranty on cutting tools, have you read the fine print? Although Yato is a Polish company I highly doubt that they are actually made in Poland.

    Techo,
You are correct the microprint on the box indicates the taps were made in Bucuresti ( Bucarest) which I believe is in Romania.

If I recall I stated that Yato was a polish company brand, not that the taps were made in Poland.

There is definitely HSS indicated on the Box and in various other places listed around the net as per Item number 2976.

From what I can gather Yato tools are made all over Europe. They have been around for 25 years.

Did I mention the vice grips I looked at where stamped Germany?
    regards

From memory, the gearbox is designed to match the motor, the motor has a long shaft protrusion to accommodate the worm mounted on it plus possibly a support bearing beyond the worm, most have a two speed motor, all suggesting that it is a fairly specific purpose built motor rather than a generic one. My understanding is that Brobo saws were all 3phase as they were manufactured and marketed as heavy duty industrial units, so the chances of a motor graft would be low due to there not being a single phase option offered by the factory. You may well be better off trying to set up with a VFD or rotary converter to feed the current motor 3phase.

    Andre,

Nice find! I have one too, and use it all the time. So much nicer (and faster) to use for cutting stock for fabrication or machining than a horizontal band saw.

I stripped the lower half of mine back to bare metal and completely re-built it. I even found a supply of close to the original hammer tone green paint. I need to strip the top half now because the gearbox seal has failed.

Has anyone seen a manual for these machines on-line?

    Graham.

    Grahame,

Thanks, but unfortunately those manuals on the Brobo site are for newer saws. The Super 12" has different castings. I guess the internals may be similar though.

The coolant pumps on those newer models is listed on the drawings as Toyota - I suppose fuel pump. Someone told me mine was an older Holden pump. Any ideas? My pump needs a rebuild.

    Joe,
I Received the catalogues from We2U. There was not a mention of these taps in the catalogue but inside the front page was some very encouraguring information.

Quote <Our Yato hand tools have a lifetime replacement warranty> I assume that this means all Yato handtools sold by We2u-

From what I can gather that virtually all of the Yato tools have the CE marking signifying that the products conform with the Eu directives or Eu regulations. Beside that there is a logo and underneath that "Manufactured in the Eu. I assume from that I am dealing with only European made tools.

If no one objects I could scan and post the page and 1 other which lists all the symbols for the various steels and standards found on the packaging applying to the various handtools.

We2u does not appear to be the distributor but perhaps the agent for a niche group of certain high-quality tools of which Yato is but one brand among others.
The niche could be best described as Automotive, with some metalworking tools around them

Anyway please leave your comments if you want me to scan and post the pages or maybe some would prefer to get their own catalogue.
Disclaimer -theres nothing in this for me , I have no connection with We2u and not receiving any benefit other than knowing at last there are some decent tools becoming available.

There was a 350 brobo cold saw in a school workshop.
It also sorted a coolant pump that I was sure was an an old holden type-with the glass bowl- a Stromberg perhaps?

I found this - see line 12 if this is what you found?

Yes, that's what I'd seen. Henry (clear out) on the woodworker forum had told me it was something older, maybe Holden or Vauxhall, I can't recall.

But, following your lead I found: Goss - Mechanical Fuel Pumps With this I'm confident enough to strip the pump and contact Goss for identification.

    Thanks,
    Graham.

Pretty sure that it is a Holden fuel pump. You should be able to get an overhaul kit from REPCO or practically any other parts replacement store.
