Thanks for that link. I will have to read the whole thread. I just happen to be planning on installing a one shot oiler. I watched a video on this subject recently, with an interesting point of view about groove design. I also visited the One Shot Oiler Shop and had a look at the descriptions of the ebooks mentioned, just a few days ago.

There're a few non-saints on this forum: non-saint Sacc has a certain ring to it!

There is more to this situation than some of you know.
The post to Davince the new UK member was a welcome post not an attack or a scolding as it looked to some of you. I have contacted him and he was not offended by it.
I try to give a welcome for all new starters to give them a good start in navigating the Forum yes I made bad errors in the links on that occasion.
Welcomes to new members from this point shall go out as a proforma PM (with the links correct)
OK Put it down to me not realising at that time, I was suffering bad diabetic hypo combined with fatigue/sleep deprivation as well.
Since 2015 other admin members and myself had both warned him and issued suspensions. Phil did not respond to these measures and had been given 3 or 4 opportunities to stop or change to change his ways, but did not do that.
If anyone of you has a problem with me ,you are able to PM me and I will discuss whatever the problem is, with you in a rational manner.
Yes! Phil did some very good things for you but it does not give him the right to blast people as he has done in the past. His outbursts would not be tolerated on the other equivalent overseas forums and was not tolerated on Metalwork Forums.
If you wish to take this discussion to the off topic area and discuss it there please do so, that what that section is for, but not here its off topic in this area.
I won't say any more about this as I consider the matter closed.

picked up this interesting mic at a auction last weekend.

Made by the Tubular Micrometer Co. in the USA. I have never seen a mic of this design before.
I also picked this up from Ebay:

It is a Cussons 3"-7" thread measuring machine. It is in really good condition, the previous owner was using it as an ornament in his house. I really need to build a metrology lab to keep my collection in.

Hi Snapatap,
Nice find. I've never seen a mike like that either, nor the other instrument the Cussons 3"-7" thread measuring machine. I would think that device is quite rare ! The letters "N.P.L" stand for "National Physical Laboratories" built in the USA.Best Regards:

Nice find there Snapatap. We had a Floating Carriage Micrometer with Fiducial Indicator very similar to that in the machine shop at TAA.

I made the fatal mistake of purchasing an Erlo TCA-50 drill press for the bankrupting sum of $200. Before you get excited this is an ex Cockatoo Island drill press, possibly exposed to hundreds of apprentices......Sadly it has had a dodgy repair of the column mount of what appears to have been a load that has exceeded the 250kg table capacity resulting in catastrophic failure (I emailed Erlo along with the local importer of their products, no reply yet).
I'll get some table photos when i get a chance (2" drill holes cleanly eating into the table along with total destruction of what you'd call the cast T slots on the table.

Looks like a challenge you can't resist!
I think there are a couple of people on this forum who can successfully rebuild cast iron damage like this, but this looks like a large casting.
Maybe changing the position of the bolt holes for the T-nuts by 30deg or so might make a work-around that uses good casting spots might be the go.
Alternatively, I could think af a way of making "T-nuts" in two parts that span right across the damage - an arc shape "T-nut".
Let me know if this is too cryptic.
Other than that, Nice find!Cheers, Joe

I tried out the "new " power saw today, it took 30 minutes to cut 100mm stock but I am very pleased with it.

Hi Trong, I'm not sure but I think the blade might be on the wrong way as it looks as if it's cutting on the push stroke which usually is a lifting stroke, which could account for taking 30 minutes to cut the bar. Most saws usually cut on the pull stroke.
