They are a nice dividing head. I see you can do direct indexing straight from the spindle, that's handy to have.

    Default RH parting inserts

I've known that handed parting inserts exist, and while I've never gone searching for them, I've never seen them offered for sale until now.
Came across these 3mm RH inserts while browsing my usual aliexpress tooling supplier, they save a lot of clean-up work over standard inserts when parting a drilled item.

Been a while since posting to much happening or not happening.

Friend came up from Sydney for a few days bring with him a stash from Hughie and his factory clean out almost 40kg worth of off cuts, nuts n bolts, bits n pieces I shall enjoy doing odds n sods with I am sure.

I since that post took photos of what was still in the packets on the bench.

Then on the Sunday morning at markets $5 worth of metal which included a bearing scraper made from an old file still razor sharp.

Maybe we can ask the powers that be, if we could have a little "Incredible Hulk" icon for green with envy??????

    Default HSS/carbide pedestal tool grinder

Ever since I did the metal scraping course at Phil Fehring's (Machtool) workshop (was that really three years ago?) I've wanted one of the heavy duty cast iron pedestal tool grinders like the one we were sharpening our carbide scrapers on. One came up for sale in Melbourne a few months ago, Phil Fehring was kind enough to retrieve it for me and store it at his workshop.

I collected it last week and now its home at Laidley, its a solid beastie, probably 200kg plus, 3 phase reversible, looks like its been around the block a few times, it should scrub up well. For now it will go in a corner with all my other machine tool projects and wait its turn. Many thanks to Phil and Marko.

I've no idea of the brand, the only clue so far to its origin is that the 1/2" tapped holes are 12 tpi, so BSW threads. It could be British, Australian or an old Taiwanese copy of something. The original colour could have been a deepish blue, more of a royal blue than a navy blue.

Nice one, Bob. I got a Waldown D/E grinder off of Phil some years ago, with tilting tables both ends. A very handy item.

Pity Phil won't be doing anyone else any favours these days. Probably no more scraping courses either.

    Hi Peter,
Is Phil ok? As I have been on the end of a number of Phil's favours as well as going to his scraping course I know what a knowledgeable and great bloke he is. Let us know if anything is needed.

I think it is because Phil has been banned from the forum.

I don't know the full story and least said soonest mended but he started complaining about the application of forum rules and moderation in a thread.
(Those posts have now been removed.)
