    Cool My Tool Storage cabinet

I made 7 of these when i was a Millwright in the big factory. Gave 6 of them away to my buddies. The metal is 18ga steel and it was all bent in a large hand brake (thats where my buddies came in) Then i mig welded it all together and made the wooden drawers. And yes that is a 36" ratchet hanging in the middle...Bob

Nice work Bob. Do the corner gussets in the door stop the door from twisting?

Oh I dunno bout the colour, I like it, better then the common as muck beige, grey or red. I like bright colours in the work shop. Brightens the place up a bit.
Nice box by the way. 36" ratchet look a bit too much like hard work though, gave that up years ago. These days if it needs bigger than a 1/2" drive, its too big, don't want to know. LOL
Like the pencil sharpener, I've got one the same. After years of using a stanley knife to sharpen pencils, the sharpener is great. One of the best things I installed in the shed

    Default Cabinet

Greetings chaps The purple tool cabinet brought these photos to light. They are of my tool storage area. It is rough and ready converted from a set of shelfs to keep my tools separate from all the other volunters down at the loco shed. But the idea may spark interest for those who have limited space. The idea is that the two front doors are about 3 inches deep and have a door on the inside of them. Then a further three inches in there is another door and then the back of the chest is about a further 3 inches in. making it 12 inches deep x 3 feet wide. it is only for hanging tools. I anyone is interested I will take better photos. 4-6-4

    Default Cabinet

One thing I forgot to mention about my tool cabinet is that it has to be bolted down to bench as it tends to want to fall over when loaded. There is another space behind the seen. 4-6-4

I am sure they help. I just wanted to add them for the wow effect and it didn't take much longer. I used a deadbolt with the same key for my house because at work i had too many keys to carry...Bob

    Default Tool cabinet

I managed to remember both the camera and to take some more pics of my rough tool cabinet. I am in the process of moving the workshop from one part of Newport to another so there is some confusion. But here they are most is on the left side of the cabinet. I started with a solid set of shelf's about 12 inches deep and 5 foot long. and used 1/2 inch ply for the doors and any other timber for the bits and pieces. Hope this gives you some new ideas on how to store your tools. At a previous residence I had a similar Idea but with shelf's. Once again space was tight which was the reason for the storage system.
