Unless you have allready got the AXA you would find the BXA better suited to that size lathe.
The 9x20 you refer to is the size of the Lathe, not jargon in that sence more a base standard.

Can't help with the AXA toolpost, but 9x20 is the swing and centre distance in inches - a 9x20 can swing a 9 inch diameter object over the bed, and 20 inches between centres. Your AL960B is about a 12x36....

Some people go for the AXA where other find the BXA is better.
Have a look through this thread and it might help

I just have a look around the web and found this one. It looks like it comes with a AXA tool post.

    Hey Bob,

There may be a small number of us, myself included, that don't know what an AL960B lathe is. Care to post a photo?

    Dave,
Your link takes me to something like an AL-336.

    Default I have an AXA

I have an AXA on my Al960.

It is similar in bulk to the stock toolpost and works well for me.

On occasion when I want to use a larger shank tool I just put the original post back on

I made up a special stud to suit the AXA and my lathe (which had a tapped hole in the topslide rather than a T-slot- apparently a new variant according to H+F)

I was concerned that the bulky BXA might get in the way with little stuff

There is a thread from last year about this
