The AXA tool holders are pretty nice with the toolpost contact surfaces all nicely ground and a perfect fit. The clamp screws are high cheese alloy so I'll be replacing them but the holders themselves seem fairly hard. For $15.00 a pop I'm very happy with them.

The collet chucks are both quite nicely finished with ~0.01mm runout measured at the taper when in the lathe spindle or a collet in the mill so happy with them. The collets, while functional enough are a bit of a mixed bag finish wise. One is very nicely finished while the rest have a lot of sharp edges and a couple still had daggs from where the slits were cut. I checked the 16mm collet in the lathe and measured ~0.04mm runout on a slot drill shank, seems a bit ordinary to me but probably within my expectations given the price.

Unfortunately the Mitee Bites are only available for 16mm slots but there was no problem returning them so all good.
    Cheers,
    Greg.
Greg do you have an AXA tool post from a different maker/ supplier?
I am wondering as I bought mine from CDCO a few years ago, and want some more tool holders.

My tool post is a DTM wedge type out of the US.
I would think AXA dovetail dimensions are standardised but who knows.

For many years I have been after a proper sized magnetic chuck for my surface grinder. I did purchase a second hand one and found out you never buy a second hand magnetic chuck unless you can test it in person. Someone had pulled it apart and the alnico magnets had lost a substantial bit of their power because of it. Otherwise the chuck was really nice. Unfortunately getting the magnets rezapped means a trip to Melbourne. Freight is not cheap.

I found Magpro2015 on ebay and asked about a 6X18 mag chuck. He said he could import one on his next order. Gave me a solid price and freight. It was $350 delivered. I said go ahead with the import and several months later he contacted me and said it had arrived and I bought it through his ebay shop. It was delivered by TNT and I have got it today. It is really nice, putting a micrometer to measure parallelism and the outside measures all under 0.01mm difference. The finish is superb. It is a fine pole chuck but things stick very well to it.

    Quite happy.

I have been talking to Felix from Magpro and he had issues with Ebay, so he is currently building a new website and you will be able to buy direct from it. It was supposed to be operational last week but he is still having issues.

Hey all, Felix has got the new website working with prices that look real good, just need to check if his freight deals are any better.

I ordered some carbide 4 flute endmills from Maritool in the USA on 4/12/17. They arrived today 12/12/17. Excellent service and very easy seller to deal with. Very nice looking and the cutting edge grinds look excellent. American made and mid price range mills used in industry. I am over cheap asian imports failing.

Bolts and Industrial are offering a good deal on Pferd emery tape until the end of June. 50m rolls either 25mm or 50mm wide in grits from 320 to 40, the deal is buy 3 and get a fourth roll free. I got 4 rolls of 25mm today for a tad less then $70.
