Did you make the die yourself?

Hi Com_VC, yes I made this tool to turn the radius for the die. Made out of 140mm round stock.

Pair of parallels I made at TAFE, they normally wouldn't surface grind the slot but I figured why not.. looks better without the tool marks from beat up TAFE end mills

You have done a really good job there. Wish I could find a apprentice that could potentially come close to doing work like that.

Thanks snapatap, I think my next assessment is a pair of toolmaker's clamps, we'll see how they turn out.

Hi Ben, very nice work, something to be really proud of.
Do you get drawings to work from when you make these items?? If not any chance of getting a rough sketch with details so that I could use it to make some for myself, PLEASE?

Default New Beginnings A Rose Engine Build

At last New Beginnings A Rose Engine Build using old bits and new.
The basis of the frame is Sher Workshop with stainless steel 1" bar for future possible CNC. The old rocker wooden frame is no longer usable the shaft was re-machine. Although a re-drill and bronze bushes might see it utilised till such time as the new frame is cut from the Aluminum sheet 900x500x43 I've marked out one end to be cut off using my circular saw in steps. Then use bandsaw to cut it down to sizes.

It will be a long term thing progress will be slow.

hi joe. i got a bit of a laugh out of this out board post.
id say that id say that the miss matches between old motor and new leg
would have 99% of people running for cover on this job.
who knows out of the 1% of people would be able to pull it off.
    pretty cool.

Default Con Rod Rotary Tool Holder

I picked up a rotary tool at a garage sale on Sunday with the idea of using it in my lathe.

here's my solution to mounting it in the tool post.

Ben, have you had to explain to your Minister For War and Finance, just why her car has developed a bit of a miss?

I found this old brass kero stove dated 1938 at a second hand shop last week, it cleaned up nicely, I was able to fire it up the other day after putting new seals through it and making a new leather cup washer for the pump, good for another 80 years I reckon.

It's running a bit rich in the pic, I was running it pretty hard and I think I over-pressurised the tank at the time.
