Re broken Dowidat shifter.
Nigel I have a similar shifter with the adjusting worm missing.
I was going to weld the loose jaw to a size I need.
When I get home from Queensland I’ll measure it up and if your interested swap you as your broken jaw would suit me and you will have a complete shifter again.

Shifters or for you North Americans Crescent wrenches.
Nigel, I dug out that shifter with the missing worm and sorry it’s not a Dowidat.
I do have 10” and 12” Dowidat shifters but they’re a different series to yours?
I have a quite a few, a couple I couldn’t find, one with my fathers initials stamped on it should be in the ute.
The other possibly from somewhere in the old Russian empire has a back to front thread for adjusting the jaws.

A sleeve
Hotrod guy comes round, wants a sleeve.
We go to his place, it is for steering column gear shift on some old Ford:

The flange on his column is smaller than the clamp:

Buy some 65mm round from Edcon, bore out to 45mm:

Make a groove, 16mm wide, 50mm dia.:

bandsaw the bulk off, and face in a Hercus:

(because it's mounted chuck jaws will actually fit in the 45mm cavity)
Then split into two shells, and deliver to the customer. A fun hour of quick machining!Nigel, from a cave FULL of unfinished projects and lost tools.

I get annoyed with the toolholders not having a good place to keep them and i want to get another 5 or 6 so time to remedy the situation.
Its a bit bouncy so needs a strut from the foot but it works good
