    Default Timber Storage Rack

This is the other half of the sheet goods trolley for general storage of timber.

I like cantilevered storage for timber, it's easier to get what you want, and lift it out, previously I used a vertical storage system, and the main issue was that the bit of timber you really wanted was always at the back, and stuff was easily lost.

This one is 3.6 meters long by 2.4 meters high and should hold as many unfinished projects as I can manage...

The top plates are each secured with 6x12mm high tensile bolts and corresponding plates on the outside wall so as to capture the wall studs, and distribute the load. The basic construction is 50x25 RHS and gussettted with 150x150x3 gussets.

The main fabrication problem was to keep the spacing of the support arms consistent, as all the welding is on one side there is a tendency for shrinkage to bow the frames.

The idea was to clamp up the frames against a bit of I beam to try and keep it straight, sorry to say it didn't really work all that well, but at least the bowing was consistent, and the frames all pulled up straight when installed.

Now I'm hoping it doesn't collapse under the weight of all the unfinished projects....

    Regards
    Ray

    Been busy Ray
You made a good job of that, looks good and plenty strong enough for timber. I don't think it will come down in a hurry.
