Finding a 9/18" to 1/4" thread converter
Hello all, I'm looking at a deal to buy a vehicle CNG(compressed natural gas) air filter to use in my compressed air setup. It's assured that it will fit the job nicely even though it was meant for something else. The only problem is finding adapters to adapt its 9/16-18" threads into 1/4" ones to accommodate my setup. Anyone know if this is even possible?

Most likely, no adapter is necessary. Pipe sizes are very weird. Nominal pipe size 1/4" has actual dimensions of 0.544" OD (close to 9/16") and standard threads 18 per inch.
If possible, make your final decision with all parts in hand, and test fit before purchase. At worst, some minor re-threading may be needed.
Cheers,

Thanks Joe, I really wasn't expecting anyone to reply to this, but you did! I'll report back when I get the filter.

Sorry, someone must have mistakenly thought this was a metalworking question. My post was regarding an integral part of a compressed air system for spraying finishes, hence why I posted in the Finishes section. Just a heads up!
