A bit further afield -
Lucky's Scrap Metal - Lot 2 Racecourse Rd Teralba. 02 49581271
[email protected].
Teralba is located at the north western end of Lake Macquarie.
Luckys gets a huge variety of good stuff. You used to be able to have a wander around the yard as long as you stopped at the office first and either wore you own hi vis vest and hard hat or picked up some loaners from the office. You would have to check if that is still the case as I haven't been there for a while now. Friend of mine does (did?) a lot of shopping there. All at scrap prices. I've been there myself a couple of times. On both occasions there were a couple of old lathes in the yard, couple of complete Hiab cranes that had been removed from trucks and oddles of 3 phase motors etc etc. A bit like a smaller scale version of the "Junkyard wars" junk yard.

Ausscrap in Gladstone St Newtown if often worth a look - a friend had a workshop oppositefor several years & picked up several kitchens worth of stainless sheet, a hundred yards or so of 415v 3 phase cabling as 'extension cords', 20 or so 'bullet proof' alloy panels from bank remodelling, old pressure vessels, fire extinguishers, general cr@p.
They also have head office somewhere in Botany/Mascot.

Does anyone know of similar places in the Brisbane area? I wouldn't mind a new 3HP or so 3 phase motor to rebuild my rotary phase converter but over the last year or so still have not come across one at a suitable junk price.
thanks
Bill
