Check to see if McAfee has a site based virus / malware check and removal tool. These things are smart enough to change programs on your computer. This is the usual method recommended when you get an infection.

Going to an online scan should be the last resort as you could get another virus while connected . Better to try a scan and other fixes isolated to the computer first and if that don't work then maybe go online . A virus can work online in the background while you are scanning online .
I would shut down my internet connection while doing a full scan and if that don't remove it then maybe online scan. The volume of a pizza of thickness 'a' and radius 'z' is given by pi z z a.

That is not the recommended method. If you have a virus then it is going to be operating along with the anti virus and as I said, they are smart enough to instigate themselves into anti virus program which negates any effort to remove them. They can let the anti virus pretend to do a scan and clean while they are in the background pulling the strings. You will never know whether your anti virus has worked or not. A few week later and it pops up again and most people think they have caught it again. It is how they are designed to work.
A reputable anti virus vendor will have the means to counteract the virus (if it has been around long enough) and the virus cannot affect the application online because it is not on that computer and it has the virus signature.
you could get another virus while connected .

Never had a virus take over the antivirus software . You can do it a lot of ways but if you are connected to the internet and scanning then the virus software can be downloading again in the back ground as you scan and re install in system files that have already been scanned . So it comes up looking clean . They make all kinds of recommendations mainly pointed at you using their service .
My first scan is always with my antivirus , updated and the internet disconnected . Then if I still have a problem then I might go online scan just in case they are holding back some virus definitions to make their online service necessary .
That's just the way I have found that works for me .The volume of a pizza of thickness 'a' and radius 'z' is given by pi z z a.

Harry please note:
Do a Google search for weevah2 it is a virus that can keep reinstalling itself multiple times if you don't remove its core files and may require thraking down dozens of files from different locations
There are a lot of fixes for this virus in the search and you should fix it asap.
It did not come from these forums, but members need to be aware that the Google ads shown on the forum are contextual.... IE: Google will show ads pertinent to recent sites you have visited or searched for. So if you see ads for solar panels that will be because you or someone else has visited a solar energy site. Same goes for girly sites, etc, etc, etc.
However that has nothing to do with the problem you currently have with weevah2.
Hope this sorts your problem for you.
Cheers - Neil

Thanks Neil(Hey long time no see!), yes I've been through and got rid of the weevah2 virus and then gone days with nothing then as soon as I logged on here it started again(a couple times).
It may well have been shear coincidence that It reinfected when visiting here, I've downloaded and installed malwarebytes as suggested above its seems to have worked so far....................................................................

This is a common problem that a lot of people dont expect and realise that and infected file can replicate it self and create a virus even if you think your addaware/antivirus program says its deleted.
Says a lot for some of antivirus programs....but in their defense the virus programmers are creating new stuff all the time.
do scans in safe mode if your really having trouble.
And as someone has said above DO NOT do online scans..most deposit a virus/malware...and even be aware that so called programs such as "Win Antivirus" (not sure if its still around) is a virus in itself.
Anyway a good source of info on how to get rid of this stuff is Major Geeks.
and keep away from from those pormn...i mean girly sites

If they are all equal then explain to me why one antivirus can find a virus or malware but another can't . Do your really believe profits are driven by fairness ? Come on the computer and software industry is riddled with unfairness and darn right criminal behaviour . Do you really believe that some pimply teenage hacker writes a virus that can bring down servers protected by the top industry antivirus software . Companies with a vested interest write the viruses so we are forced to buy their antivirus products. Then they can quickly apply the fix they wrote at the same time .
It makes them huge profits not put them out of business . No one can prove where the virus come from so how is it going to put anyone out of business ? If there were no viruses and no malware there would be No Norton , No ESET , No Trend Micro companies etc. etc . Think about it .The volume of a pizza of thickness 'a' and radius 'z' is given by pi z z a.
