I use Opera as my browser and they took that facility away months ago.
Is a real pain as keyboard use is a lot quicker than having to use the mouse.
Probably your browser is the problem.

I am having the same problem, only with Metalwork Forums, and only with Firefox. I have Win 7 and Ubuntu Linux 16.04 operating systems on this computer, and the same problem occurs in both Windows and Linux using Firefox. It does not happen when using Chrome.
I noticed that when this happens the computer is trying to load aniview.hs.net or aniview.hs.llnwd.net. Google tells me that this is an ad management website, and that people on other forums are having the same problem with only one website, also using Firefox, so it appears to be related to one of the ads displayed on the Metalwork Forums website.
I have no idea how to fix this without activating an ad blocker, which would prevent me from visiting some of my usual websites. Hopefully someone with some computer expertise will know how to sort this out - meanwhile I will have to use Chrome to visit the metalwork forums.

Are you just talking about the issue of not being able to use the back button? Why would that prevent you from using Firefox for the forum? Just open in another tab as has been suggested. I almost never use the back button as this requires reloading of the page and more data use, something I always have issues with.
I also do not have any issues with using the back button. I have tried it, but I do use a couple of ad blockers. Interesting that you cannot visit sites as I can only remember 1 site that would not let me enter. That was a week or so ago and I was a bit surprised by it. Not that it was a big issue, I just looked for the info on other sites. Ads and video take up a lot of bandwidth and data. I am using all my data each month so I would be in trouble if I allowed ads and video. It might be different if I had access to normal internet data limits.
It seems as tho the issue is related to ads. Another site I read has constant complaints in the comment section relating to ads and the way they keep changing the view. The ads are apparently moving the page so the user can no longer see what they were reading and have to find the position again, continually.

I am having problems too. I have windows 10 and have used firefox and chrome browsers and appear to be stuck in a refresh loop. I have tried reinstalling plugins and cleared the cache.

Using windows 10 - Chrome back button works fine. MS Edge back button also works fine.
Only have those 2 on this computer will try FF & Opera on another and get back to you.
In the mean time I will escalate this to the Guru, Steven.
Cheers.
