Quite a few sections here: But were to go?
OK
so my interest is in lathe work,
I don't have any thoughts about having a lathe doing its own thing, taking the fun out of things.
I just want true hands on, so programmable sit back and watch, you may as well be a passenger on the bus on an outing.
The start and finish is out of your hands:
even if you thought it up, the machine does it for you, (were is the fun in that?)
I want to twist those nobs, wind those handles, change those speeds, make mistakes, and learn motor skills in turning, (you know Hands on all the way)
I am not afraid of computer control, or programming, in fact the majority of my business as a Heavy industrial electrical contractor was design, programing and installing PLCs (automation)
I was into computers and programing back in the 1980 with XTs Plcs not long after. and retired five years ago. looking for something different.
so what section just deals in lathes, (not CNC) -- as one who likes old school is not to post on the site Computer controlled CNC.
If there is nothing then I guess I could go back to good old Youtube, and keep downloading.
I will still remain a Meyerbeer as I am interested in the foundry and blacksmith side:

Hi Denis-Peter
There is no specific lathe only section that I am aware of, general lathe turning stuff goes under Metalwork General (you will also find that it is the section that gets the most views). Otherwise if you are doing a specific project then generally get posted under Metalwork Projects.
Youtube can be a great place to learn some lathe turning techniques as watching someone do it can be easier to understand then reading a paragraph on how to do it
I know quite a few watch Tubalcain / mrpete222
