Default Pics not uploading in the last few days

I have been unable to get pics to load since about Friday last week. I have used the same process as used last week to post some pics. Since trying several times I have updated adobe flash as was instructed to other users having the same issues in another thread.

After selecting "manage attachments"" then "add Files" then "select files" cilck on the picture then ""open" then "Upload files" it seems to go through the upload and then comes up with an error symbol, a red dot with ! INSIDE. When highlighting the dot it says the error is

    500 [IOErrorEvent type= "ioError" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2
    text="Error #2038"]

    What should I try next?

Sit tight and I'll get the guru on to it.

I'll try a photo upload myself in this post

    fronton.jpg

Well that worked but it was from my album.

Didn't want to upload from computer. No message but no pic either.

I'll let Steven know and see what happens.

    Some addittional info.
A couple of us have posted pics that would not upload to metalwork forums to other forums. Make of of computer ( apple of PC ) makes no difference. I tried to load a pic last loaded a week or so back, again, as test and no go. Everything I have tried since got the results as listed above.

I tried the manage attachments way and the the image icon in the toolbox above the text screen.

Having the same trouble. I just tried a new thread in the "Vintage Machinery" subforum. Pikkies do exactly as described by Burner.

Tried the same pikkie on woodworkforums.com (same software?) - works fine.

I'm also using an Apple Mac.

I have my pictures in Dropbox. I just copy the public link to the file and past that in the external image tabs.

    No issues, touch metal

Which I used to think was a bad idea as when you close your drop box(or it is closed for you) the pictures are lost.

    Now I'm not so sure

It pays to keep backups of your pictures. Pity I lost many of mine from a network hard drive crash. What I learnt from that is that external hard drives can have proprietry operating/file systems which are difficult to recover. I now run a twice weekly auto backup and every so often just copy the entire contents of my NAS onto a clean ext HDD. I try to alternate the 2 drives. If only life was perfect? The NAS backup only adds new files. Say what? What nitwit thought of that. To do a full backup, the NAS first has to wipe the HDD then do a backup. Guess at which point the drive will fail.

I used to have a dropbox account. A long time ago. I wonder how long they are kept?

I think it a bad idea. Things change. I used to use photobucket exclusively, then photobucket went full retard so I deleted my account and all my hotlicked pictures with it. I did have to go back to some threads and upload the photo's to the forum server, so they are now there forever.

After 2 years of no use they send you an email giving you 90 days to sign in. If you don't sign in your account will be closed.
"Once your account is closed, you won't be able to sign in anymore or link any new devices. Your data will also be subject to deletion from the service."

Exactly the reason I used to think it was a bad idea. But are the the pictures still there? WWF and MWF have been losing pictures for months.

Is anyone still having a problem loading pics from their computer.

I did a heap of trials and it now seems to be working. If you still have a problem try loading .jpg or .gif files and keep the file size under 1MB .png files still seem to be a problem for some reason.

The below was uploaded from computer and is a 35.5 KB .jpg

Just tried with a 33kB JPG file. Still get the same error message as all last week and the red exclamation mark after the filename after it's attempted to upload it....

Uploading the same file in 'Manage attachments" in the advanced option, same thing...

    Sorry still not working here....
    Cheers, Joe
