Default Responding to Requests for a PM

    Hi all,
Just wondering how we generally respond to a request for a PM with contact details.

It seems to me that if a forum member wants to make contact, requesting in a general post that a PM be supplied is not the way to go.

The requesting member should initiate a PM with some contact details for the recipient member to respond to.

Am I being paranoid about possible privacy aspects ?

The forum administrators are quite rightly very concerned about content in posts, but they should also be concerned about the forum being used for activities that could result in abuse in some way of a forum member.

    Just opening up the discussion.

    John

Not quite sure what your concern is here.

I assume you are referring to your sale of R8 collets and a prospective buyer has asked for a PM with your details (eg how and where to pay).

If that is so, then that is perfectly normal.

Or am I on the wrong track?

BTW, yes the moderators take misuse of the PM system very seriously and we ask for improper PMs to be reported by clicking on the little triangle with the exclamation mark.

Are you saying you would prefer personal details (email) of the person requesting before divulging your own to them?

Sounds reasonable, just in case the info is being obtained for reasons other than is inferred.
