    Default huanyang settings

    i have used several Huanyangs and one gave me a bit of curry trying to set it up but i used these basic settings to get it working due credit to mactec54 on cnc zone
    maybe of some help to new users

    Here is the settings you need, you will have to do a reset of the VFD, how to do a reset is in this list of settings, make sure the drive is unlocked, ( PD000=0 ) then set these settings for your motor

    Huanyang Mactec54
    PD000=0 for Parameter unlock ( 1 ) for Parameter Lock ( Must be 0 to do a Reset )

    PD001=0 (1 For Remote Control)

    PD002=0

    PD003=80 ( Max is 120 )

    PD004=80 ( Max is 120 )

    PD005=80 ( Max is 120 )

    PD007=20

    PD008=220

    PD009=15

    PD010=8

    PD011=40 (Minimum Setting 40)

    PD13= 08 is for Factory reset, Only use this to set VFD to Factory Default Settings

    PD014 Accel=15 ( Adjust to suit)

    PD015 Deccl=15 (Adjust to suit)

    PD141=220 ( Motor Rated Voltage )

    PD142=3 ( Motor Max Amps) ( You may Have to adjust Amps )

    PD143=4 ( Motor Number of Poles)

    PD144=2800 (Max Motor RPM)

    For Remote Pot use
    PD002=1

    PD70=0

    PD72=80 ( Max is 120 )

    PD73=40

    This info is useful but also misleading. Please don't use these settings blindly without reference to your manual.
    E.g.
    PD001 is for the remote control of Run, Stop, Reverse and other SWITCHED commands, but NOT speed. PD002 is for remote control of speed, as Mactec indicates further down.
    PD003 and PD004 should be 50Hz.
    PD005 is the maximum frequency you want to run the motor at. The maximum for that can only be determined by experimenting with your particular motor. Some motors don't like more than 100Hz other will run fine at 150Hz.
    PD007 is also confusing: it sets the minimum motor frequency. So setting that to 20 will make the motor run no slower than 20Hz (560rpm) so that the motor will simply stop if you try and set the pot a little lower. Most motors run perfectly well at 2 or 3Hz, so I would set that to 1 and see later change it to the minimum frequency the motor will actually run at connected to the machine.
    PD008 should be set to the mains voltage - I set mine to 240(Volts) here. PD141 is the rated motor voltage.
    PD142 should be set to 2.2 (A) for this motor, not 3. So adjust that as MacTec says.
    PD144 is NOT the 'Max Motor RPM', but'rated motor rpm' and therefore should be 1400 for the motor described. My educated guess is that it only influences the rpm display for that motor, when that display is chosen. If the 2800 setting was used, then the rpm display would show half the correct speed.
    PD070 to 073 are only relevant with an external frequency control like a potentiometer and PD002=1, as written by MacTec. In which case it should be set to 0 (zero) to match the internal 10V supply.
    PD072 and 073 in many manuals are incorrectly listed in the list of paramters compared to the detailed description further on in the manual! Setting PD073 to 40 will make you scratch your head! It should be 0 (zero) and PD072 should be the highest frequency you want to run the motor at. See under PD005.
    Unfortunately, some of the translation errors in most of the earlier manuals have been confusing English speaking people for years. The newer manuals have fewer mistakes, however.
    So it is better to use newer advice form fellow users.
    I think on this forum, Stustoys, BobL and RayG are possibly the most knowledgeable members.

    Generally speaking, it might be best to describe what you want to achieve with your VFD and you will get the right settings from the forum. There are some very clever and tricky options in all those parameters, particularly from PD044 to 052 - some are not easy to figure out by the manual though..... expecially external switch functions. But quite a few of us have managed to figure out most....

    Thanks Joe i thought about the post later and should have added "please feel free to update ". MY aim was to provide a basic beginners list of parameters to get started and i guess it has achieved that with your input thank you, I too had a lot of trouble guessing what some of the description used meant

    Just a reminder that a 2850 rpm motor at 150 Hz will be doing 8550 rpm which probably beyond the safe range of some bearings and maybe even the physical construction of some cheaper motor. 1440 RPM at 50Hz is 4320 RPM at 150Hz which is probably OK for most cases. I haven't tested many 2850 rpm motors above 100Hz but the couple I have tested have relatively less power than 1440 RPM motors. Also motor size is a consideration with smaller motors already being generally less efficient to begin with so when the RPMs are increased they seem to lose more power.

    By experimenting on a particular motor I also suggest more than a quick spin up to see if it just runs at the required speed. The motor needs to be tested under load as the temperature of the motor may increase beyond a safe limit.
