Hi Steve,
I watched the video, it certainly looks right. If the movement is smooth without any stickiness you have got it cracked. I'd be interested in the rest of the project.
Re the oil. Sewing machine oil is very thin, almost like water. I tend to use it on things like CD player racks, printer rails and clock movements. In fact it is almost like a penetrating oil.Best Regards:
