6mm or 1/4" square push broach
I want to make some square holes to hold 6mm or 1/4" HSS. I could file them , but a square push broach sounds more sensible. If any one has a lead on one...

Is the weekend too late to have a look at what sizes I have.

Thanks Ash. I'll bear that in mind but as a last resort as there would be several of these.
No rush - one of a list of many things to look at
The added bit - In case I've mislead anyone, I have broaches for square keyways. The broach I'm chasing is for making square holes

Hi Michael,
Have seen where one was made, from memory a piece of square steel was used and a course thread was cut on it up to about 3/4 of its length. It was then put on a surface grinder and ground down with a taper starting at the threaded end on all 4 sides, the shallow end has the first thread ground off so that it drops in the hole. The whole thing is then heat treated to be able to work. Once that is done, it should be ready to use.
