Emco Maximat Mentor 10
Not sure if this is where you post restoration projects... so i there is another spot please let me know.
Just picked up my first Lathe ( I'm a newbie so will be asking lots of Questions) an EMCO Maximat Mentor 10.
Its pretty gruby but thats OK as I love to see how nice it will look by the time I get to turn it on for the first time. Could take awhile so please be patient.
As I said before I will have heaps of questions and need for guidance along the way.
Here are some pics
The box of goodies

The switch box is damn grimy as well and will need a good clean

I plan to start from the ground up making the stand the first to get a face lift. I notice there are no leveling feet on this. Is that not so critical on these small lathes or should I manufacture something to get it level. It looks as though it just bolts to the floor via two bits of angle iron. I was going to pour a level slab on top of the workshop floor but that may not be perfect. As it's not a super heavy piece of machinery I was thinking making a slightly larger and heavier piece of angle iron on each end with slots to accommodate some adjustment for leveling. Would this be sufficient to do the job?
Thanks
Gary

Hi Gazza58,
Most of the time projects like yours are slotted into WORKSHOP Projects. Its effectively a Work in Progress and should fit well there. It is visited pretty often so you won't be stuck for a reply.
Apologies about the time taken for me to approve the post .They program should only moderate the first ten posts if you add pictures. Its a pain in the butt, sometimes, as its really aimed at spammers.
For other topics general for general topics but if you don't already know click on the FORUM box top LH corner and then click Forum home to see all our other offerings.
