I've finally finished my quick change gearbox for my lathe!
It's been a 8 month long project from design to completion
Designed from scratch, made from scrap!
I have a build series on youtube https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...qmbdWe3U7kc-MX

Hi Tommy,
Very nicely done, I like the handle on the back ! Does it just turn the leadscrew ?Best Regards:

Had a look at a couple of the U Tube vids.
CoolFrisky wife, happy life. Then I woke up. Oh well it was fun while it lasted. From an early age my father taught me to wear welding gloves . "Its not to protect your hands son, its to put out the fire when u set yourself alight".

Hi Tommy,
Very crafty ! I had visions of been able to quickly wind back the saddle via the leadscrew after threading.
Thanks for the pictures and explanation.Best Regards:

Hi Tommy,
I own a Myford S7LB, and it can be a right royal pain fitting the winding handle down the spindle to wind back the saddle after threading, particularly for metric threads, and if I have the ER32 collet chuck and its drawbar fitted, I've seen me winding the chuck using the chuck key.
I don't know if it helps, but I made a "Tumbler reversing mechanism" with centre neutral for a milling machine table drive. That could get you away from a spinning handle.
Just to add clarity, I try to arrange things so that I'm threading away from the chuck if I can, particularly if I'm doing a blind internal thread.Best Regards:
Baron J.
