Some of my projects
As with the welding table I posted elsewhere there arethings I have always wanted to build. So with the shed funds being low ($0) and no chance of starting some larger projects I have spent the last month or two building a few things with the materials on hand.
First an adaptor to mount the compound slide to the crossslide. Used some 20mm plate. It all bolts together so I can change thingsaround if I need to. There is another plate that bolts to the compound slide to mount a vice on or bolt the job directly to the plate. Now I can do some little milling jobs.

Being able to do some milling a ball turner was the next job.

Drill attachment that bolts to a toolpost holder was next

Indexing plate was next. Locates on the rear of the lathe spindle.

I have always wanted to be able to cut some keyways instead of doing the dodgy things I do. So pneumatic keyway cutter. Though it only has a 20mm stroke I am very pleased with this. Will do some mod`s so as to get the stroke up to about 40mm.

Couple of other jobs include,
mount bracket for a long shaft die grinder to mount to the toolpost,
bracket for mounting the 5” angle grinder to the tool post,
and a carriage stop.

Also made some light stands. You can never have too much light.

It`s been great to be back in the shed. I have spent more time in there in the last couple of months than I have in the last five years.

That pneumatic slotter is very clever! Did that just come to you out of the blue? Also do you have much speed control? can it cycle automatically?

Thank`s caskwarrior,
I looked at a couple of manual slotters mounted to toolposts on the net and decided that's to much work I`ll put a ram on it. (I`m lazy).
Flow vales control the speed and the sensor valves trip the control valve making it cycle automatically. Will do up to about 200 cycles /minute with no load. Never pushed it flat out while cutting if I try and take to big a cut it will push the carriage backwards even if locked down so you have to be a bit careful.

I have cut a few keyways with it and shows promise so I will develop some more.

Had to do a little mill job today so took a pic of it on the lathe. The vice will need to be upgraded but for the moment that's it.

Made some mod`s to the key cutter. Now has a stroke of 36mm which should cover most of what I need to do. Took about 3 minutes to cut a 4.7x2.5x30mm keyway. Still some bugs to sort out. (specially my ability to grind up cutting bits for it).
Made a video but I need to sort out posting it.

By the way thank`s to those posting likes and such. Took me awhile to figure it out. Real boost to the confidence levels.
