Yea thats a fair way. Makes it impossible to make small balls let alone concave or coveing.
I would make 2 new holes if using an existing hole looks terrible.

At this stage i will be taking Kryn's advice of machining base and plate so i achieve a reasonable height of inserts....if it fits!!!!

hooray..it works
The two bigger holes in the base of ball turner are for weight reduction..aka holes that were sacrificed to gain extra height of insert holder

I took some off the base top and bottom which allowed top section to come down giving good clearance for decent size balls. And I didnt have to drill holes.
This is the plate that the ball turner bolt onto....which uses existing top slide fastening holes. The threaded hole in the RH corner is for the CS socket head screw to screw in when not in use.

The one on the handle varies from 29.56 - 30.73mm...slightly out of round as I had no idea on how to use it...but I now know where I went wrong..which might help next time..lol.I am supprised as to how smooth it is to use. Probably the taper roller bearing...which reminds me I must pull it apart and grease it...I only oiled it when I put it together.

Nice to see that it's working. Where did you go wrong to get the ball out of round, just so we know not to suffer the same
mistakeexperience?
