Nearly finished this project. Just a few little things here and there.

One thing i had been thinking of is a 3 way splitting wedge. Given the typical size of logs i bring home and the size of my wood heater, i often find i split logs into 3 pieces, a half and 2 quarters gives a good selection of sizes.

So figured i would attempt to improve my splitting efficiency and do it in one go.

Im still undecided if i will like a 3 way wedge but only one way to find out. Its removable so if i dont find it very usable i can turf it.

    Couple of pics...

Last pic shows me holding a piece of angle iron to show how it will look. I have this setup on the single wedge and it works well.

Obviously it will be fulling seam welded. Its only tacked atm.

Also the main splitting wedge still needs a tip welded to finish the wedge. Ill weld a piece of solid square and either angle grind it or mill it to the required angle.

Edit: ultimately this insert will be through bolted with 2 x m12 bolts above the angle iron wedge
