Annual Ballarat Swapmeet Pilgrimage
Made my annual pilgrimage to Ballarat yesterday.
I've gotten to know an old bloke who is an avid toolie and Swapmeet tragic. But he hasn't been able to drive to Ballarat anymore so I offered to take him and another mate. I had one condition I get first dibs in any post drills🤣
We left here at 4:45am and got back at 9pm.
Here is my treasure:
Unknown make/model. Missing belt shifter.
Got this with a motor for $20. They have taken off the fast pulley and put in a bee belt.
A little $5 job make/model unknown.
This has already been stripped to bare metal and is etch primed.
Nice old tap wrench
Got my daughter her first drill. Will be part of a kids tool chest I'm putting together for her.
C-spanner so I can try and finish the surface grinder.
Pair of post drills
The larger one I tried to buy off the same bloke 2-3yrs back but the lowest he would go was $350 for it an I wasn't paying that. It's missing the foot for the pillar and he broke the handle.
Otherwise looks good hopefully nothing hidden under the dirt. I have long wanted a Silver Manufacturing Co. No.3 and finally got one.
I will try to make a copy of the Handle and foot.
The smaller one is a Buffalo Forge No.66
Not sure why it is attached to the wooden plank as it doesn't have a pillar like others but had a casting backing board which the table attached to. It is also missing its self advance arm and I'm not sure if the feed wheel is original at this stage.
It's already getting broken down and cleaned.
No picture but I also bought about a dozen boxes of various umbrako bolts. And a antique adjustable tapping plate.…..Live a Quiet Life & Work with your Hands
