Some of my lathes!!
Hi all
From being at school over 40 years ago, I've always loved messing about on machinery, I've ended up collecting smaller lathes and other old workshop machines!!
My lathes..
This is a diminuitive Flexispeed 7, It's just 7" between centres and made here in Sheffield, In fact about 80 yards from the first house the wife and me lived in!!

This is a Wade machine and in common with the Flexispeed, The screws have right hand threads so it has to be remembered to operate the handles in the opposite way to normal machines to avoid catastrophe!!

Myford 7, I'm pretty sure this 1953 machine has been overhauled at some point in recent history as it's in such good condition with absolutely no wear in the bed or any of the ways..

This was the first lathe I bought and is still set up even though there is wear in the bed so parallel turning comes out cylinderical!

I swapped a Record wood turning lathe for this Granville Senior that's loosely based upon the Myford machine, Some parts are actually interchangeable, One thing that's actually better tyhan the Myford is the hollow spindle, It's a larger bore on the Granville so would allow gun barrels in for recrowning/threading for a moderator.. This machine came from a colledge apparently, The fella I got it from, He bought it from the teacher that was allowed to take it home when the school was being closed and demolished This was made in 1953 too I was told!!

Thanks for your post, that granfield looks like a really handy machine, especially if accessories are somewhat interchangeable, as a myford owner i would love a bit more than 0.75" through the spindle. I see a few wades up for sale now and then here and a while ago was thinking they might make a good donor for an in-place boring machine, not the nicest fate for such a pleasant looking machine though.

Your addiction??
John, what does your wife say about your addiction?????? Nice array of lathes . Your Myford reminds me of a friend that bought one second hand that wasn't used, still covered in the sticky protectant, complete with steadies and a heap of tooling that wasn't sharpened.
As he had to move from where he was, he sold it to another friend, even though I asked first dibs, should he decide to sell.To grow old is mandatory, growing up is optional.

Hi Ralph
I just can't remember what diameter the bore is but I can remember that it was slightly larger than on the Myford
The wife doesn't really bother what I do in the garage/shed, She just hates what I have in the house!! 139 airguns (Brought another home just now! ) and around 25-30 guitars!!
That was a dirty trick letting someone else have the lathe
John..
