Default Bonjour, Saludas, and How ya going from Adelaide

Hello forums and members, Happy new year, My name is Alby and I'm in Adelaide, 57 today and thought I should say hello. I'm a mechanical fitter and was previously a sawyer in my younger years.
Nowadays I just follow the work around wherever it happens to take me. Have spent the last 30 yrs working for E&WS/SA Water, United Water, Olympic Dam, a private welding company, the windfarms in our mid north, and smaller other companies depending on what was on offer.
I have a small lathe of chinese extraction which I've hacked to death to make it usable over the last couple of years and quite recently picked up a Brierley ZB25 drill grinder as another little project to restore.
I look forward to spending a little time here on the forums meeting a few of you as time permits.
    Best regards Alby

    G'day ALby,

    Welcome to the forum.

Am sure that people would like to see a few photos showing your lathe hacks and the grinder restoration.

Hi Alby welcome to our Metalwork Forum

There's an active machinist contingent here so I am sure you will fit right in.

Also, there's plenty of other forms of metalworking to get involved in.

There's always someone ready to help members when they have a difficulty.

Watch out for a PM with some links to help get started in the right direction.

    Welcome

    Grahame

Hi Bill and cheers for the welcome, I'll open a new thread to detail some of my work. I have to ask though that because I have detailed my lathe hacks on an american site already, am I allowed to post that link on this site to spare duplication?

    Alby,

Am not sure about posting rules ............ I think I have posted links to threads in other forums but cannot really say for sure. Maybe somebody smarter could comment ?

Well Bill, you darn well should be, as should everybody who posts to this forum.

Go to the FORUM box--next to the VIDEOS top left-hand side of the screen

    Select Forum Home - click
The third line down is the TERMS OF USE (which everyone by using this forum has agreed automatically to abide by)

I believe clause 3 .15 is the one you need to look at.

Ongoing promotion is the operative term. Given you don't flog the link to the "competitive site" every other week it won't be considered "ongoing".
    Last of all .
If a link should be posted, put it in General not here in Introduction. OK?

To be frank though,I think the members would appreciate pictures posted here on the forum especially if theres some lathe mods.
It gives the rest of us with not so good lathes a bit of inspiration to change our machines for the better.

Welcome to a top Forum Alby. When I'm down in the City next, I'll try to catch up with you for a face to face intro, if that's OK with you, or if you're going past Murray Bridge, drop in.
Send me a PM for contact details.

    Thanks fellas for the welcomes.
I'll start a new post as Grahame suggests and link to what I've already posted. The American community have a massive following of my model lathe which is made in china and sold here probably under multiple names.

Kryn - sent pm with mob number, call at your leisure. If I'm not home, I'm on the farm or at work somewhere.
    cheers Alby
