Thanks for posting this guys. I missed out on the little Chin Hung lathe but scored more than enough steel mesh for the stair treads up to the mezzanine.

Hi RC,
Went relatively cheaply at $1909 plus 7.5% fee plus 10% GST which I make to be $2257. Nice little unit with gap bed and taper turning attachment. I understand you have had a Chin Hung for some time, what do you think of it?
Cheers

My Chin Hung I really like it, it is a superb lathe for a Taiwanese machine. But if I knew what I knew now I would not have bought it. Reason being in the last five or six years it seems there has been a huge sell off as many many shops in Australia have gone under. Prior to that decent second hand lathes were few and far between. But the market has been saturated of late leading to stupidly low prices.
anyone seen this Ohtori Mill, Looks like a very stout and chubby machine. I actually kind of like it, anyone run one before?

Somewhat overpriced IMO but considering the location in a tool desert and the tooling, perhaps not grossly so. Certainly worth looking at if you're in the market for a small/medium milling machine. I'd prefer R8 over MT3 but it's a quibble - MT3 works fine in this size machine, just a bit more of a PITA to swap tooling.
Good friend of mine has one of these mills (also MT3) that I found for him a bit over 10 years ago and brought back here. It's a nice tight machine, quite competent within its work envelope. He's done some quite fine work with it and is very happy - his now has VFD controlled speeds on spindle and table.
PDW
I've got a Herless SM1 and it fits the work I do. Definitely prefer it over a simple mill drill. I paid $1800 for my one, and then another $400 for tooling. I think $3500 is a little high, but that one does have a bit of tooling.
The one comment I wanted to mention is how short these machines are. A past owner of my machine attached heavy duty steel drawers to the bottom of my machine, which brings it up to a more suitable height. Without this, it would be too low.
I can take a decent cut with it, good surface finish. I couldn't work out how heavy it is, I think maybe 500kg - 700kg but a guess. Would love to connect it to VFD and give it a DRO.

Doesn't seem to have bids on any of the items in this auction ? part of me wants this fly press but I'm to lazy to go get it if I win the auction...
Has a vice on the bench and all so might be a good pickup for someone local
