    Default Grey's Auction- Mackay Qld

    http://www.graysonline.com/lot/0006-...g/hamatu-lathe

It looks a bit neglected in the photos but would be a worth a closer look for anyone seeking a larger lathe.

I've had mine for a few years now and couldn't be happier with it. (Not getting much use lately as I haven't got my shed sorted)

There is also a fairly large Victor in the auction, and both lathes appear to have their chucks, faceplates etc actually with them rather than being sold as a pallet lot somewhere further down the auction line. When did Grays change policy, or was it always a branch by branch thing that all of the essential accessories would be stripped from machines and sold separately generally in mixed lots, regardless of the impact that this would have on the prices for the principal machines?
I used to be an engineer, I'm not an engineer any more, but on the really good days I can remember when I was.

    It's not just a Grey's practice unfortunately.

Went for $799 + gst + 12.5% buyers premium . If I was able to get 3ph on where I live, I would have been bidding on this one. That’s a lot of lathe for around a grand.

For that money it's worth the bit of work to install a VSD and run it on single phase.

There's always this one for auction tomorrow.

Haven't paid much attention to auctions lately, but have Grays recently put up the buyer premium? Sort of in the range of dovebid now!

Hard to tell from the pics of course, but seems reasonably clean and unabused compared to most of the Hamatus I've seen over the years. The old SL25 brick outhouse cnc, interested to see what that brings too.
