New AC/DC TIG Welders $599 Free Shipping From Perth
Hey guys i was looking at possibly replacing my machine and came a cross these Chinese AC/DC Tig machines on Gumtree out of Perth 1 year warranty, i don't know of the company never bought anything from them and no associations with them but a AC machine for $599 free delivery that's a crazy price, Shipping to the east cost would cost $50-$60 from that $599 price or more
looks like an ok basic/general model great duty cycle if it is real i think from memory i read 60% at 200amps
i tried to order a machine from Made In China the web site and was quoted AUD$800 with the currency converter add a few bucks after pinchpal takes there fee for there currency conversion and this Aussie model is looking really good
here is a link to the machine https://www.australiaindustrialgroup...elding-machine

I would not buy one of those chinese welders you get what you pay for, Perth is a long way were you are and if you need repairs it would be a nightmare to get help. I have been thinking of getting one of these welders.

It always pays to read the manual with these cheap welders.
The specification chart says 60% duty cycle (no current given) and 35% for MMA , again no current given.
Further on it says

Never, Never, Never buy a welder based on its price alone.
You get what you pay for!
Apart from the vagaries in the way the machine specifications are written, it just screams, way too cheap.
The brand of the chipset is not mentioned. When the machines carry a decent brand inverter chipset theres no doubt the advertising blurb will tell you about it. Nothing said about this one. There is so much diffrerence between a good brand and a crap one.
$600 does not buy you much in terms of an AC ?DC machine, qulaity internals such as inverter and logic boards, transformer and switch gear.
Refering to BobLs illustration presumably from the manual.30 amps from supply to give 160amps max on stick. Hands up lads, How many of you have a 30 amp outlet in our shed ? Next question is whats the genuine output from a 15amp supply outlet.I will bet the answer to that question is illuminating. My point being that, the way the those particular specs are written is deceptive and takes advantage of those with little knowldge in this area.
A warranty of 12 months is not a lot in comparison with other machines on the market.
What about repairs? If the machine craps itself what about the repair time, costs and turnaround, what happens. Have you bothered to ask?
My Token Tools 200 amp machine failed under warranty last month and Pete had the machine repaired and sent back to me in 9 days from when it left me to when I got it back.
Are the retailers of this machine capable of that?

A small concern about the OPs link is their website does not list a physical address. It is probably just an oversight but I learned my lesson many years ago that (unless its through a 3rd party like ebay or similar) I never buy from a site that does not list a physical address with full contact details that can be confirmed. I learned that lesson many years ago. Is a a real business that can provide proper service/repairs or just some bloke operating out of his home?
It would be interesting to ring and ask them if you could go look at their products.

Some good pointers guys i just thought it was a good basic model with an ok price tag, they don't display the address which might ring bells for anAussie company they do have one tho i think u need to call them so it is likely just a cheaply ran business, they also sell Unimig brand of welders so u would think they would need to have some kind of genuine business going to be a dealer of such a big brand
this was there Gumtree add https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/mirr...ine/1153659955

This was a model from a different store, Trade Tools seem to have a ton of happy customers on FB i too have bought from them but only 4 impact socket sets which are a great product
just a bulky machine with lots of dials https://www.tradetools.com/product-r...-35-duty-cycle 35amp duty cycle too if that's believable

Me. In fact I can do 32A 3 phase without dramas, double that if I had to (and wanted to pay the power bill).
Wouldn't touch that welder though. I think around $2K is more like it for a decent AC-DC unit. One of those is on my shopping list now I'm likely to be welding aluminium and less steel.
I bought my MIG from Magnum Welders and have put well over 300kg of ER70, 309 and 316 wire through it without any issues at all.

If you wanted to buy a cheapo welder for homeshop use, buy it from Bunnings. Once you learned enough from it (how to use it or how good/crap it is/or you really don't need it) you can pretty much take it back and get your money back.
Yep, I used to work at Bunnings and I know they sell some crap, but their returns policy is crazy! I seen tradies return 5 year old flogged out GMC power tools and for either cash or equivalent products.

There's a reason as to why they can sell them at that price, about $200 worth of electronics, whereas a decent unit will have $1,000 worth of quality electronics.
I read the manual for the CIG Weldskill, that I'm interested in. It's a lot different to the welder I used to use about 30 years ago, an old HF Pilot Arc, with a converter on top!!!!!
What is it they say "When all else fails read the destruction manual"

"here is a link to the machine https://www.australiaindustrialgroup...elding-machine"
I just looked at that link and the email address is a hotmail account, that to me say's a lot.
The 1800 number is probably Skype.
I would be wary of who you are dealing with.
Take care.
