That particular accessory was defiantly missing from my UPA-4 set.
Funny, I can't find any reference to it in the manual either.

I am surprised that you can import one of those for $US145.02. It would be a great asset.

That figure is just the GST on the import cost Dean, as the total cost is above AU$1000, but the interesting bit is in the pictures. As kwijbo99 says, not the usual accessory. Perhaps it's just as well too, as although on the whole it looks very desirable, in the longer term it would possibly be fairly high maintenance, with high upkeep costs to go with it.

I had a quick look at the listing when you first posted and did not look any further. When kwijbo99 posted I had a closer look. I aware of the financial and other, er details.

I had a good look at the ad. Twice now, given the subsequent discussion.
I still don't get what's so "interesting" about the ad. ???
In terms of price, it's about middle of the range for a second-hand one. I've been watching them for years being sold between $100 and $3000. I would love one - but can't justify to buy one.... Its only additional function to my current boring heads is that it can do automatic face boring and a certain range of taper or cone boring..... both of which I can do using a rotary table on a mill.
    Cheers, Joe

I have a UPA3 and have been using it recently. It's much easier to get bores on size than my cheap Chinese boring head. That being said, I feel like the facing function is a bit of a gimmick on the UPA3. It only has one feed rate (from what I can tell). I recall that the UPA4 has a variable feed rate. The feed is too coarse for what I'm doing (cast iron with carbide insert tooling). As a result the finish is coarse. If you run the boring head faster, you get a faster feed as it is X for each RPM. The other thing about my UPA3 is that it makes my Deckel quite unbalanced and shakes at anything above 500 rpm when the slide is out any amount. This is because it's big and heavy and this has a cost. My little cheap boring head runs happily at north of 1,000 rpm (extended out) without an issue and gets a wonderful finish with carbide. If grinding HSS is your thing (which was intended for the UPA3) then you won't have the issues mentioned - just food for thought.

I guess you were concentrating on something else. I missed it first time around.
