sale
Interesting I was a student at Yallourn TAFE . Wonder what's going on . Are they closing down or downsizing ? They had a number of those Colchester lathes ( I was told they are Asian copies ??? ) and green Leblond's . Don't remember seeing the Herless lathe or the T&C grinders . I did see the drill presses and the pedestal grinders and the slotter. They did have a cylindrical grinder, but I can't see that in the sale listing. I think this sale is some of the stuff that's been in storage and they decided to get rid of it.

The Kearns S type at that TAFE auction is slowly gaining in price.
I think this mob might be a bit optimistic about the price they want. https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/dubb...rer/1150466185Gold, the colour of choice for the discerning person.

I had a punt on the S type but it went alittle out of my budget.

Might be the attention these machines get on youtube that is increasing the prices, couple with there would be a bit of interest in a major capital city.

They are a really nice, well made and versatile machine small & light enough to fit in the average suburban garage. I find the ergonomics really good. The only lacks are an extensible quill/spindle like the big boys have and not enough table speeds/feeds. However that last can be rectified by fitting a VFD as the table drive motor is just a single speed 415V unit feeding through a 3 speed mechanical g/box.
Mine won't come on the market as long as I'm alive.

I cannot imagine how trashed this bed must be after years of on-machine sanding,

I would say it would have some wear in it but it would be a hardened bed, as Monarch were doing that when WW2 was around. It is a long bed that is for sure for the swing.
The Churchill cyl grinder is a big one at that auction 7m centres. I predict the whole lot will be scrapped. I doubt there is much profit in chroming work these days once you factor in the environmental costs. Cheaper to just buy in chinese chromed bar and weld it on.Gold, the colour of choice for the discerning person.

Woah, that's mighty impressive!
The contact number provided on that listing is just as impressive in my personal opinion.
