    Hi Guys,

Just a quick note about electronics on old machines, Fanuc and the like.

I've played with some and in almost every case, soldered joints go dry and simply re-fluxing and soldering them solves many issues. Not always easy to find, so the technique that I use is a rosin flux pen and 60/40 non cored solder. The flux pen effectively floods the area with flux. The solder and heat from the Iron does the rest.

The older boards are very repairable but sadly not many people care to do board repairs these days.

The newer boards are starting to become a pain and needs good vision or a microscope.

Finding what replacement components you need is also a challenge since not every manufacturer provides board schematics.

These days most board repair technicians are using infrared cameras to detect faulty components and they need donor boards else it becomes a pain waiting on spares.

The add does say its Hungarian made.

Slightly different from typical Euro style mill configurations that seem to have the Y axis movement over the head rather than the table.

Mechanical powerfeed for the table is nice.

Actually, I was studying the photos yesterday and based on the condition of the table, it doesn’t seem to be abused much.

I was amazed at the price for the FCG-610 grinder. I have one in better condition (as in like new) and more tooling but would have have thought I would get anything like that price if I tried to sell it, which I would like to do.

There are bidders with some deep pockets on VIC & NSW auctions these days.

Someone must have really wanted it.

I guess its also a reflection of newer machinery costing much more what they did about 5 to 10 years ago.

You can always post yours on ebay at your reserve price and see which way the wind blows eBay (and other auctions) Metalwork Stuff - PART II

This ended much higher than I had anticipated: https://www.evansclarke.com.au/detail.aspx?id=1701281

Everything in that lot for the most part had high bidders.

I was the under bidder on that, would have liked to go higher but i need a CNC mill more than i need that lathe at the moment. I realistically wouldn't have been surprised if that went over $20K if i had kept bidding. Those lathes are somewhere between $45-70K new.

It was in beautiful condition but its a good thing you drew a line.

I met another person yesterday that was bidding for the other Al-1324 but decided to call out because it was already beyond what he wanted to spend considering he already has 2 other lathes.

Too easy getting sucked into a bidding war.

It was in amazing and built to a very high standard, one day i will buy one.

Yes very easy to get into a bidding war, i always set myself a limit before i start bidding on anything, and so far i have always had the self discipline to stick to it.
