Cheap Shaper Anyone?
This machine just appeared on eBay... not only could you pick up a cheap shaper (or whatever it is? any guesses?), but you could also get a great little arm exercise machine.

My best guess is a facing and deburring/chamfering tool for pipes (e.g. oxy cut in the field). Looks like a substantial self-centering double clamp faced by a hand operated automatically advancing facing/boring head.
In any case, nothing to do with shaper, mill or lathe....

Large aluminium round offcut
My local (Bendigo, Vic) "stuff" dealer has a piece of round aluminium 350mm diameter and around 300 long for sale for $260 (less whatever you or I could haggle). It's a solid bar extrusion offcut.
I'd be happy to collect and store it if someone wants it and help arrange transport or whatever.
He also has a piece of 50mm aluminium plate about 300x300mm. It looks flame cut (maybe undersized plasma?). It's not marked with a price but I'd be happy to go and enquire and haggle if someone wants it. Same deal as above.

I've read extrusions don't machine well.
PS: I don't think we're supposed to post in this thread.

There was some mention of getting a Megger in one of the electrical threads. Voila!

I'd be a bit worried about this one as the needle should not be at half scale when no one is turning the handle, should be up at infinity.

For the price its a great buy,you are virtually picking up a geared head hercus with seperate feed for less than a used 9A let alone a 260,the milling slides usually sell to the foolish for between $300/$450.

Thanks GDD, i'll keep my eye on that one. Any one like to take a guess on the stroke? The description is a bit iffy. I wonder if my single axle trailer would cope with that...probably not but it may be worth a hire......

If that is a 350mm (14") vice; I am guessing at about a 24" stroke and 2.5-3.00 tonne.
It's a big 'mutha'.
