Resin Casting in Silicon moulds for pattern making
I'm working on some patterns at the moment and for scales of economy it is much cheaper to cast 12 parts in an 12x18" Flask than to do individual items.
How to get 12 identical patterns to fit on a runner. First issue all parts need to be split patterns.
My idea is to make one split pattern and then resin cast the halves in a silicon mould to get the 12 patterns and mount them on a plate. The items are purely decorative so I don't have to worry about shrinkage scales.
Anyone else thought of doing this and was it successful?…..Live a Quiet Life & Work with your Hands

I share my factory with a sculptor who is constantly making resin bucks from sillicone moulds with 3d printed masters and it seems very effective and really captures the detail. If you want to come and look at hos technique in person you are welcome to.
