Thread: Old cast iron level.

Old cast iron level.
Selling for a deceased mate.
No markings except for the adjusting screws on the underneath.
I really have know idea of its intended use.
$35 pick up inner west only.

Henry I only see 4 bubbles 2 either end 2 just off centre verticle is that right?? No horizontal bubble??

There’s only 3.
Only one end one.
It’s a bit of a whatsit.
If there’s decent natural light tomorrow I’ll put up a few more pics.

I suspect it's missing what would be the primary vial from the 2 small posts, (the one with the screw is the fixed end, the threaded rod and 2 nuts provide adjustment for calibration) like on a Starrett 98

That would be correct.
Its a big un 18” long.
I guess the missing primary vial would have been branded.

A mate was over last night and couldn’t resist the level.
It was an early Starrett 98.
