I'm guessing this won't fit onto a metric Hercus 260...? Or, is it a matter of machining a new cross slide nut?

A new metric nut would need to be made, you would not be able to use your original nut as the dovetail was mistakenly cut oversized.
The thread for the cross slide nut would need to be offset 1 mm from centre.

Private message Him. When you click on Pipeclay, a box opens up with View Profile, under that is a title Private Message,
click on that, it'll open another box, in which you can then send a message to him, when that's done, click on submit message.
When he answers, there will be next to Notifications, (next to Welcome then your name) a number which will indicate that there is a message. Click on the Notification box and another will open with the message in it, click on the private message, and it'll open, which can then be read.
To answer, type your message in the box below it, and then press submit message, make sure you click submit message, otherwise it won't work. DAMHIKT
Hope this helps,
