Cincinnatti Toolmaster Turret Mill
For sale is my Cincinnatti Toolmaster Milling Machine.
Good old machine. 3 phase. Power feed on both X & Y axis. Power downfeed on quill. Has been modified to take ER 40 collets so tooling is cheap and abundant! Pretty good shape for it's age! One small woopsie on the table (not me) see pics. The table is 36" x 10" with a working/clamp area of 30"x7", which is 914mm x 254mm & 762mm x 178mm respectively. I was going to set up an inverter to run it but never got around to it. Only selling as I cannot fit it into my workshop (it was always going to be tight), very regretful! This is a very serious machine! Inspection welcome!
Asking $2400 (that's what it owes me) and would like to see it go to a good home!
Regards
Matthew

By modified to use ER40 do you mean the spindle has been completely altered and no longer uses any kind of drawbar, just a nut? or does it have some kind of quick change tooling in it?

Hi, the Cinci toolmasters never had a drawbar. They used the monoset collet system with large retaining plate and a locknut. Not a bad setup but the monoset collets were fragile and very expensive. The monosets use the nt40 taper in the same way as the er40 does so what the previous owner has done was to machine the retaining plate to accept the ER collets in place of the monosets. The spindle is unmodified. Kind regards Matthew

Thanksn for the explanation thats pretty interesting. Is there much backlash in x and y, does it have a back gear? Sorry for all the questions, I doubt I can come up there but maybe another buyer wants the info.

That's quite alright. Currently it has about 17thou of backlash in X and y. It has anti backlash feednuts fitted so this can be adjusted to suit the operater. I simply have not had the time to get that done.
As far as back gear goes, it doesn't have any a back gear as such but rather it has a toothed belt secondary reduction which will accomplish the same speeds but will be much quieter and smoother than a traditional bull gear reduction drive.
It's an interesting setup.
