For Sale: Damaged Hare and Forbes AL330A Lathe
For Sale is a damaged Metalmaster (H&F) AL330A.
This machine was damaged whilst being moved and it fell on its face.
Damage is:
1. Saddle is bent about 3-4 thou and needs grinding and scraping back in. A new Saddle is NOT available.
2. Cross-slide screw is bent - I have purchased a new cross-slide screw and Nujts - You can purchase these for what I paid for them (about$190) or attempt to straignten the old one.
3. Various knobs, handwheels and handles have been trashed, Ive done a VERY ROUGH repair on the carriage handwheel. (it was shattered into 4 Pieces)
This lathe was used in a small repair and hobby workshop and until the accident was working fine.
Comes complete with all standard accessories supplied by H & F:
3 & 4 jaw chucks.
Fixed & Traveling Steady.
Change Gears etc......
The quote to grind and scrape the saddle and crossslide was about $400 and the bed about $900.
Whether the bed really needs doing I dont know, all I lnow is that the saddle power control gets extremeley stiff about 6 inches from the end of the bed so there is definateley something not right with the bed.
Price is $1500.00
Lathe is located in Batemans Bay and loading facilities are available
